We’ve all been in some type of situation where our hard drive has crashed, our computers got infected with a virus, copied over a needed document, deleted a document mistakenly, or had our database get corrupted.

As IT professionals, we’ve asked, how much is your data worth to you and is data loss acceptable?

In most cases, majority of businesses, the answer is no, it’s not acceptable for data loss because their data is the core of their business.  For non-businesses and individuals, their data is important when it comes to school work and photographs but they will not spend a thousand dollars or more to recover it. As an extra precaution, ArchCloud services adds the insurance you need to save yourself from data loss nightmares.

Fortunately, most incidents are relatively inconsequential or not at all important.  However, sometimes the nature of the lost data is critical, and the cost of lost data is substantial, and recovery can be overwhelmingly costly either in labor cost for re-entry and catch-up or in data recovery with no guarantee of success.  In a study, it was reported that a company that experiences a computer outage lasting for more than 10 days will never fully recover financially and that 50 percent of companies suffering such a predicament will be out of business within 5 years. (Jon Toiga, Disaster Recovery Planning: Managing Risk and Catastrophe in Information Systems, (Yourdon Press, 1989))

The more we become reliant on information and using computers to store the information that drives our businesses and daily life, we all increase the risk of losing our data. We each will determine the value of our data, but data loss isn’t acceptable in any case, and the cost to recover is costly either in monetary value and or in labor and time.

To protect ourselves from data loss, we can insure ourselves by using a reliable backup system and service, like ArchCloud to help prevent data loss from theft, disaster, and accidents. Click on either buttons to read more about the features that the Professional and Lite version has to offer.
